We know it’s hard to purchase wool without touching it first but read on to discover the many reasons to feel assured you are making a great choice. Our Saxon Merino sheep produce wool that is super soft and fine making it comfortable to wear.

Benefits and Pleasures of Wearing Merino Wool

  • Merino is lightweight and super soft.

The fibers of merino wool are finer than all other wools and are flexible making your garment soft and crazy comfortable.

  • Merino manages moisture.

It wicks away sweat when worn against your skin.

  • Merino wool can be worn all year round.

Merino wool has a natural crimp to it that allows air to be trapped. Trapped air is the perfect insulator to keep you warm in cold weather. And yet…it’s breathable. Air is able to flow through the fibers to release your body heat, so a lightweight summer garment is not out of the question. Whichever season you wear it, merino wool has moisture storing abilities. As your body heats up the moisture within the fiber will begin to evaporate leaving your skin dry.

  • Merino is odor resistant.

Because of wool’s ability to effectively manage moisture, odor-causing bacteria don’t have the moist environment they need to thrive. This means less washing!

  • Merino wool is static resistant, flame resistant, hypoallergenic and biodegradable.

Whoo! So let’s review: Merino wool will keep you warm in the cold, cool in the heat, dry, manage your stank, not itch, be safe around the campfire, feel awesome, make your friends jealous and pick you winning lotto numbers.

Care of Merino Wool

Merino wool is easy to care for.

Good news: Merino wool is odor resistant so you won’t have to wash often. When you do, fill a container such as a plastic storage box with tepid water, add a small amount of detergent. Gently swish around. Remove and squeeze excess water. Do not wring. Refill tub with clean water. Replace sweater and swish until soap is gone. Squeeze gently. Place on towel and form the sweater into shape. Press towel gently on top as well. Remove from wet towel and place on new dry towel in shape and allow to dry.
